February 16th Doulas! (Movie Night!!)
What is a doula? How can they help you during your birth or during the postpartum period? This Doula! DVD is aimed at anyone intersted in seeing what a doula actually does. It is a highly emotional, personal film that tells the stories of different doula-supported births and is suitable for expectant parents and as an educational resource for birth educators. Want to become a doula? We'll have many doulas at this meeting who will be excited to share what it's like to be a doula. We will be providing popcorn and drinks. Hope to see you there!
March 15th Celebrating VBACs!
VBACs (vaginal births after cesareans) are on the rise ...and for the first time in 14 years, the cesarean section rate has dropped! (32.8% of births in 2010 from 32.9% in 2009) Although it is a very small impovement, the rate is still high with 1/3 women having a surgical birth. At this meeting, we will be discussing the option of having a VBAC, the risks and benefits and scientific truth versus opinion. If you've had a VBAC or are considering one, please come to this meeting! We'd love to hear success stories and your questions!
April 19th Cloth Diapering and Baby Wearing 101
Back by popular demand, we will have Dirty Deeds Diaper Service speaking about cloth diapering and the service that they provide. We will also have other cloth diapering experts to share which diapers they like and why. (As you know, there are so many styles to choose from!) We will also discuss the many kids of ways to wear your baby. Some prefer a wrap style, some like ring-slings and some prefer a front pouch style. Please join us for this very informative meeting!
